In 1962, Anthony Mottola, an experienced machinist, started his own business in a two-car garage in Fair Lawn NJ. Three years later, his son Frank joined the growing firm and they expanded to their first factory building in Saddle Brook. There they produced machined products for the vending machine industry.
By 1970, the vending machine business had changed and many parts were replaced by electronic devices. However, at that time , the aerospace and automotive sectors were providing a new source of work for the young company.
In 1978, Metal Components was approached by a prominent distributor of machined and fabricated catalog items. At that time, Metal Components would again expand and relocate to a more modern facility in Little Ferry, NJ. We are proud to say, some thirty plus years later, that our wonderful relationship with that firm is stronger than ever. Moreover, Metal Components is still a supplier to the automotive and aerospace industries.
In 1986, Frank turned to his son, Frank Jr., to modernize the company through the acquisition of state-of-the-art computerized equipment. This enabled the company to become more flexible and enhanced its ability to respond to customers’ needs.
Today, Metal Components employs over 30 people working in a 25,000 square foot, temperature-controlled facility in Paterson , NJ. Working closely with Passaic County Technical Institute, they have established an apprentice work program to meet the increasing demand for skilled labor.
